同日下午，中国国务院总理李强在人民大会堂同朔尔茨举行会谈。两国总理共同出席中德经济顾问委员会座谈会，见证签署自动网联驾驶、循环经济等多项双边合作文件，并共同会见记者。外界得以一窥双方合作前景，看到中德务实合作的底色。
今年是中德建立全方位战略伙伴关系10周年。对外经济贸易大学国家对外开放研究院研究员周冰表示，朔尔茨本次访华的一个突出特点在于“深化合作决心之坚定”。
“这是一次丰富、务实且友好的访问。”复旦大学欧洲问题研究中心主任丁纯说，通过实地走访，朔尔茨一行更全面地了解中国，势必将加强双方高层、企业界，乃至民间的联系。
14日至15日，他先后到访中国西部枢纽城市重庆和经济中心上海，“新能源汽车”是其行程关键词之一。
他将此行首个参观点选在有德资背景的博世氢动力系统(重庆)有限公司。这位访华前“拎包入驻”社交平台Tik Tok的西方大国领导人，在参访后发布了一段自己为氢动力模块“拧螺丝”的视频。
在上海，朔尔茨参观了在电动出行、可再生能源等领域开发技术产品的德企科思创。这里有该公司的全球最大生产基地，也设有亚太创新中心。用科思创首席执行官施乐文的话说，“在华数十载的发展历程是德中合作精神的缩影，这种合作对双方都大有裨益。”
朔尔茨已是第三次访沪，自称上海“老朋友”的他对中国有了新的感受。德中企业界的紧密合作，中国的经济发展成就，令他印象深刻。他说，这次“看到了中国新的发展变化”，以及“德中合作对全球未来至关重要”。
在德国联邦经济发展和对外贸易协会主席米夏埃尔·舒曼看来，德中关系的经济基础坚实且可持续，未来经贸合作依旧潜力无限。丁纯表示，中德继续推动双方优势互补、互利共赢的经贸关系，符合双边利益，甚至可为欧洲乃至世界经济增加动力。
